These are the topics I bring with me to any event. Depending on the agenda, flow and objectives of the event, I may focus on one or the other. As a moderator or host however, my job is mainly to hold space and while my own topics are interesting, it is much more important to me to establish the right atmosphere throughout the event and connect the different elements with one another for a seamless experience for every single participant.
Being raised, as the first child of three and growing up with two cultures, I've had an interesting life so far. For the majority of it, I've felt extremely responsible for the things that happen around me which down the line made me work on topics of letting go control and setting boundaries with myself and others. Growing up bi-culturally made me attach less value to physical places and focus more on the people I have around me which gives me my feeling of "home". I love to mix in personal life anecdotes when I'm hosting or moderating an event. These short and often funny stories do very well with every audience.
In my early twenties I spent 5 years working for the worlds largest youth-run NGO, finishing my time there heading the Netherlands office, being responsible for the organisation and its 300+ youth members. In my time there, I discovered a love for personal growth and leadership development which was a great focus for our organisation at the time. This love has only evolved since then which allows me to connect and integrate different leadership topics when on stage. Some examples are: Value-based leadership, situational leadership, self-leadership, self awareness, work-life integration and more.
We go to the gym to work on our physical health and go to the doctor once in a while for a health check. Through my work, I have come to understand that taking care of our mental health is just as important. We should talk to our friends and colleagues about what we're experiencing mentally and see a therapist once in a while for a general "check-up". Depression, burn-out, stress, sleep-issues and more are on the rise, therefore I am on a mission to normalise talking about mental health early on. So much that I've started Hearts Wide Open, The Men's Health Podcast in 2023 where we raise awareness for mental health.
I am also a marketing professional and love to talk about marketing. My focus areas are growth marketing, basics of marketing, target audience definition, marketing funnel design, conversion strategies, websites & SEO, copywriting & storytelling, how to make your brand become more human and more. Where appropriate I may incorporate some of these topics in events, but I also offer these as one-off workshops.
Hi my name is Dennis Amo and the first time I remember speaking on stage, I was 6 years old, extremely nervous and ended up choking on the one line I was tasked to deliver at our elementary school theatre in front of hundreds of parents. OMG.
Since then I've come a long way..., no really, a very long way. Speaking on stages has always been something I had utmost respect for, and at the same time something that got me excited. Once I had learned how to make myself, with all that I am, the biggest asset on this stage, my speaker career was born. To this day I've spoken to over 50 audiences, impacting over 10000 participants, no more choking.
Over time, I have come to understand that my true superpower lies in hosting and moderating events. I don't put on an act or a persona, I am my true authentic self when I enter a stage which means that I break the ice from the start, demonstrate vulnerability and shape an open, warm and approachable environment where everyone feels welcome. This approach makes it easier for me to connect different agenda points to one another while e.g. sharing a personal story with some witty humour. As a result, we get an engaged audience, participants that actually get something out of the different spaces and an event that everyone will remember.
If my approach speaks to you, I'd love to talk to you about your event!

Dennis Amo
Dennis has the ability to be fully present with the audience. I felt like he was talking directly to me.
With his grounded energy, Dennis easily connected the dots for us and made the agenda flow.
It genuinly felt like Dennis was being his true self. His authenticity inspired all of us to do the same.
This is my approach for my role as an event host or moderator:
Before I say yes to your event, let's jump on a call to get to know one another: We'll discuss what your event is about, what your priorities are in terms of objectives, outcomes and culture, and how we can make sure that your event will be one that participants will remember. Among other things, I will ask you what type of atmosphere you'd love to see at your event to understand whether I think I can help bring your vision to life. Even event managers that I didn't end up working with have said that they got a lot of clarity about their event through a call with me.
I don't just show up at your event and leave afterwards. It's extremely important for me to know about the agenda, the different spaces that will happen and what other speakers will bring to the event. Therefore I always jump on another call with my clients, once the agenda is set. We go through everything together and I start to understand how I can e. g. bridge from one space to another, what stories I can share that bring the agenda more to life and where humour, an energizer or the ice breaker with the audience should be placed.
Whether we see each other in person before first participants arrive or we meet on a video call because your event is virtual, alignment with you, the crew and myself is essential to make this day a success. I've got a few tools to ensure that the entire events team feels ready and aligned. If your event ranges over multiple days, I suggest taking this time at the start and at the end of each day.
This one is so underrated! Can you imagine, why most recurring events seem to always be the same? They lack proper aftercare. I have the ambition to continuously grow in my role as a host and moderator, therefore I will ask you to gather feedback about your event, not just my role though. I believe in the success of an event as a whole and strongly suggest we do some aftercare together, so we can keep learning and growing, and of course also read all the positive comments people leave.
After the agenda is set, I love to brainstorm with you and potentially others from the events team, what we can do in terms of special effects. What are special effects? It's what I call small details that will truly make the event experience a special one. From my countless experiences hosting, moderating and facilitating events, I've seen quiet a lot, and I also love to get creative here with you and your team. This one's a bonus I'd strongly suggest going for!
